Mi se pare de bun simț decizia președintelui Obama de a nu da publicității fotografiile macabre cu bin Laden împușcat în cap. Pe lângă faptul că ar stârni un nou val de furie în lumea islamică, nu înțeleg cine ce ar avea de câștigat din treaba asta. Cea mai bună dovadă că bin Laden nu mai trăiește este faptul că încă nu a apărut nicio înregistrare video în care teroristul să facă mișto de toată povestea asta cu raidul CIA și cu așa zisa lui execuție.
Oricum, pentru conspiraționiștii de comitet fotografia cadavrului lui Osama n-ar reprezenta decât o nouă piesă din infinitul puzzle care-i ajută se se deconecteze de la realitate sub pretextul că așa o înțeleg mai bine. Dacă ar primi fotografia, ar cere testul ADN, dacă l-ar primi și pe acesta, ar cere înregistrarea aruncării în mare, apoi expertiza unui comitet independent de scafandri, apoi o autopsie subacvatică și așa mai departe… Paranoia fuge, nimeni n-o ajunge…
Pe alt subiect, dar la aceeași temă, vă recomand o opinie mai puțin ortodoxă a jurnalistului meu preferat de la Esquire, Tom Junod, What Really Killed Osama bin Laden:
Two years ago, the American people looked to Barack Obama to disentangle us from the knots that Osama bin Laden tied us in, and to restore to our sense of being blessed. But Obama has been willing to match blood-for-blood from the start, and has surprised his American friends and confounded his American foes by being more lethal abroad than he has been inspiring at home. Now he has found his greatest triumph in the killing of our enemy, and though for Sean Hannity and other hairdo heroes even that is not enough — they want to see pictures! — he has probably done enough to win himself another term. We humans are a bloody race, after all, and we Americans are a bloody people, and Barack Obama has turned out to be one of us after all, right down to his insistence that God’s grace is what explains our wealth and power.
But let’s not forget that our wealth and power are what killed Osama bin Laden. God had nothing to do with it.
Și povestea captivantă a ultimului interviu pe care Osama bin Laden l-a acordat unui jurnalist american, lui John Miller, tot pentru Esquire, cu un an înaintea atentatelor din 11 septembrie:
Ali had been told to sit in the back of the room during the interview. When it was over, I went looking for him. “So, do we have a story?” I whispered when I found him. “Please tell me it wasn’t just an hour of ‘Praise Allah’ bullshit.”
“No,” Ali said. “We have a very good story.” I asked Ali what bin Laden had said that would make this news. “He was looking right into your face,” Ali said, “and he was saying that you–you people, the Americans–would be going home from the Middle East in coffins and in boxes.”
“He said that?” I asked, excited. “And while he was saying this, what was I doing?”
Ali looked at me a bit oddly and said, “You were nodding like you agreed with his plan.”
During the hour-long interview, bin Laden, assuming correctly that I did not understand a word he was saying, had taken to looking at his translator as he gave his answers. Clearly, he did not understand the basic conventions of the American television interview. Imagine that. So, to keep his responses directed toward our camera, to make it seem like we were rocking along together, I engaged him in knowing eye contact and nodded thoughtfully.
“So, Ali, you’re telling me he’s promising genocide, and I’m nodding like an asshole?”
“Yes,” Ali said, smiling.
But we had our little story, and a few weeks later, in a few minutes of footage, Osama bin Laden would say hi to America. Not many people would pay attention. Just another Arab terrorist.

pai eu am de zis doua chestii:
1. Daca s-ar fi publicat imaginile probabil nu ar mai fi existat atatea conspiratii, oricum banuiesc ca membrii gruparii teroriste oricum sunt nervosi ca a fost impuscat liderul (daca asta chiar s-a intamplat)
2. Teoriile pe care le au unii, cum ca s-ar putea sa fi existat o intelegere motiv pentru care nu apare nici o reactie.
In fine, o sa fie o gramada de povesti, putini probabil ca vor sti cu adevarat toate detaliile.
Sunt multe lucruri aici. Primul, cel mai important, mi se pare lipsa unui proces. Inteleg ca e common knowledge ca Osama era terorist, ca era vinovat de atentate, dar totusi cred ca astfel de lucruri se discuta intr-un proces. N-ar fi fost atat de spectaculos, atat de emotional, dar ar fi fost corect. Si democratia noastra are la temelie tot o crima si nu e ok.
Fotografia e o chesitune secundara. Intr-adevar, e evident ca Osama e mort, iar dovada concrete nu ar fi incheiat sirul de ipoteze conspirationiste. Pana la urma, toata povestea asta cu Obama-Osama e un gest simbolic, nu inseamna ca terorismul a disparut sau ca Obama a castigat alegerile. 🙂
Indiferent ca povestea cu moartea lui Osama e pe bune sau nu, bine ca nu au dat publicitatii imagini, si asa sunt suficient de agitati sustinatorii lui. Mai poza le lipsea lor :|.
…mie îmi pare rău pentru victimele ucise în decursul acestor ani, din ambele tabere. Oamenii simpli, care au murit pentru războaiele altora, oamenii care sunt discriminați doar pentru că fac parte dintr-un anumit popor, oamenii despre care nu se mai vorbește pentru că suntem prea ocupați să căutăm ”adevărul” pierduți în căutări inutile…
Bun simt din partea lui Obama dar si respect fata de poporul arab.
